What is BAMS? (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery)

BAMS is a 5.5-year professional undergraduate medical degree (4.5 years of academic study divided into professional years, followed by 1 year of compulsory rotatory clinical internship). Regulated under the NCISM (National Commission for Indian System of Medicine), the curriculum seamlessly integrates classical Ayurvedic principles from ancient texts (Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Ashtanga Hridaya) with contemporary medical science, including modern anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, and clinical diagnostics.
Admission Process:
Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) with a minimum qualifying percentage.
Entrance Exam: Admission is strictly through the NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test).
Counseling: Seats are allocated through AACCC (Central Counseling) for 15% All India Quota/Deemed/Central Universities and respective State Ayush Counseling authorities for 85% State Quota seats.
